Making Mothering Sunday Special for Mum
Naturally Mothering Sunday is all about making a particular day special for mum. There are so many little ways that this could be done it is simply neglectful not to be doing a few of these. Here we have provided a few ideas that you might like to pay some attention to. These are not in any order of importance and some may not apply to your family, but all of these ideas are supported by happy mothers from all over the world.
• If your family is like most, especially when teenagers are involved, sibling rivalry is a common occurrence. Mornings are the worst, brothers and sisters fight. Yes mums, unfortunately you have a regular family if this sounds like your home. Number one tip on making Mothering Sunday special for your mother, this is not the day for an argument, save the tiffs and squabbles for another day. Just one morning of tranquil bliss is golden.
• Mothering Sunday is the perfect opportunity to bring the family together, If you have a sibling who may live some distance away, perhaps you could share the expense of bringing your brother or sister and their family home for the weekend. Keep in mind that your missing sibling may not attend so many family gatherings due to the extra expense involved, sharing the cost will take this excuse for not making it home out of the argument.
• My grandmother used to have a saying at Christmas, which rang true for all other special days of the year really “Christmas is not for mothers, it’s for the men and children”, she would say as she worked the weeks ahead and especially hard on the morning, cooking, cleaning, organising and entertaining. The one day of the year that really is for mothers is Mothering Sunday. Mothering Sunday is an excuse to give mothers the day off from doing the chores, there shall be no cooking or cleaning on this day, but please, this does not mean that the work can wait until tomorrow when mum has to work to make up for it, Mothering Sunday is your day to do the ironing and get done on them daily chores mothers would usually do.
• Many mothers would appreciate a day out. A day out does not have to be expensive, in fact you might even be surprised to find out how many mothers would like to just sit in the car enjoying a Sunday drive, perhaps an afternoon fishing, or even just relaxing in a local park. Certainly there is always a movie showing at the cinema, brunch in a nearby trendy café. Mum might enjoy an afternoon at the zoo, she took you when you were kids, imagine that she might get to enjoy it now that she does not have to chase you around. If your mother is a wild one why not book her a tandem sky dive, or Harley Davidson escorted tour, a hot air balloon flight, or any number of adventure sports she may have been too busy to try herself. ‘Mum” is not another word for “too old and can’t be bothered”, mums just get a little busy and forget to do things that they might enjoy.
